Meta Rolls Out USDC Payouts via Solana and Polygon for Creators
Meta rolls out USDC stablecoin payouts for creators on Solana and Polygon networks, launching first in Colombia and the Philippines.
Meta has stepped back into the stablecoin space. The tech giant now offers select creators the option to receive payouts in USDC, a dollar-pegged stablecoin.
According to an update on Meta’s website, the feature is live in Colombia and the Philippines. Payments run on two blockchain networks: Solana and Polygon.
Stripe is handling the backend payment processing and crypto-specific tax reporting.
Meta’s USDC Creator Payouts Go Live on Two Blockchain Networks
Creators who choose the stablecoin option will enter their crypto wallet address directly into Facebook’s payout platform.
Meta will not convert USDC into local currencies. That responsibility falls on the creators themselves. They also carry responsibility for securing their wallet credentials and keeping their own records.

Both Solana and Polygon confirmed their involvement. Solana Foundation head of product Catherine Gu noted that Solana has become a go-to network for internet-scale payments.
Polygon Labs CEO Marc Boiron stated that the payout program is expected to expand to over 160 countries before the end of the year. Polygon also noted it has off-ramps available in more than 150 countries.
Meta paid creators roughly $3 billion through its monetization programs in 2024. The USDC payout option adds a new route for those earnings to reach creators globally.

Meta Returns to Stablecoins After Libra’s 2022 Collapse
This move comes years after Meta’s first stablecoin attempt fell apart.
The company launched the Libra project in July 2019. It pitched an open-source stablecoin backed by payments firms, tech companies, and venture capital groups.
Libra faced sharp regulatory pushback from lawmakers and Congress. The project was later rebranded as Diem before Meta shut it down entirely in 2022.
Meta began revisiting stablecoins last year. Fortune reported the renewed interest followed a shift in the regulatory climate under President Donald Trump.
Earlier this year, Meta put out requests for assistance on its stablecoin project. A Meta spokesperson told Fortune the company is exploring how stablecoins could fit into its broader suite of payment options.

Stripe Powers the Reporting Behind Meta’s Crypto Payments
Stripe plays a key supporting role in this rollout. A Stripe spokesperson confirmed to Fortune that the company is working with Meta on the program.
Stripe’s involvement covers payment processing and some crypto-related tax reporting functions.
The partnership reflects how traditional fintech infrastructure is increasingly connecting with blockchain-based payments. Meta has not disclosed a specific timeline for the broader global rollout beyond the current two-country pilot.
The expansion to 160-plus markets remains the stated target for the year.
