Argentina Freezes 25 Crypto Accounts as LIBRA Probe Targets Major Exchanges

Argentina freezes 25 LIBRA-linked crypto accounts as a judge orders six exchanges to provide KYC, IP, bank and transaction records. Argentina has frozen 25 crypto accounts linked to the LIBRA investigation. The order came from federal judge Marcelo Martínez de Giorgi. The judge also directed six exchanges to provide user records. The exchanges named are Binance, Bybit, OKX, CoinEx, FixedFloat, and Bitfinex. Wu Blockchain reported that the order covers KYC files, IP logs, bank links, and transaction histories. Whale Insider also reported the account freeze. The case stems from President Javier Milei’s promotion of the LIBRA token on X in February 2025. Investigators are now tracing wallets tied to the project. Investigators are also seeking details from several centralized exchanges. The order names Binance, Bybit, OKX, CoinEx, FixedFloat, and Bitfinex. These platforms were directed to identify account holders linked to the probe.  The request includes personal data and trading activity connected with the accounts. Exchanges Asked to Provide KYC Data The judge ordered the exchanges to provide customer KYC files. KYC files usually include identity documents and account verification records.  These records can help investigators link wallets to account holders. The order also seeks IP logs and linked bank account details.  IP logs may show where accounts were accessed from during key transactions. Bank records can show fiat transfers connected with crypto activity. The reported movement included transfers through several platforms and chains. Such patterns can create delays for investigators reviewing blockchain records.  However, exchange data can add account-level details not visible on public ledgers. The LIBRA case remains tied to Milei’s February 2025 post on X. Authorities are now reviewing wallet activity, exchange accounts, and related transaction histories.  Further court filings may show how the frozen accounts connect to the wider investigation.
